Sitting Press
Freelance, without the personal brand
You already know how to do the work. That is not the bottleneck. The bottleneck is the first paid yes, and then the quiet extras that show up after the yes and somehow become free.
Sitting Press writes short playbooks for that gap. Not a course. Not a funnel. A file you can finish in one sitting and keep.
Who this is for
People who can do the job and still stall on the wrapper: no site, no audience, no appetite for becoming a content person. Consultants between contracts. Designers who get “quick” requests after delivery. Engineers taking side work they do not want to turn into a company. Anyone competent enough that friends keep saying they should freelance, and tired enough that they will not build a brand to prove it.
If you need a manifesto about freedom, this is the wrong shop. If you need a first invoice, or a way to name extra work without a speech, stay.
Sitting in brief
A sitting is one stretch in a chair. Phone down. The playbook is the whole unit: what to say, what not to decorate, when to stop. You read it, you do the next real thing, you close the file. You do not get a drip sequence for finishing.
Freelance sits are usually a message, a scope line, or a change-order sentence. They are not a website. They are not a positioning workshop. They are the smallest honest move that lets money show up.
What is here
Two paid playbooks. One free note.
The First Client Kit — $19
The First Client Kit is for landing paid work without a website, a following, or a personal brand. You write to people who already know you exist. You offer a defined job. You make it easy to say yes with money attached.
It will not make you discoverable. It assumes you are already known to a few humans and have been waiting for a cleaner ask. If that is not true, the kit will feel thin, which is a useful diagnosis.
The Change Order — $15
The Change Order is for the job that grew. Extra rounds. Extra stakeholders. Extra “while you’re in there.” You stop doing that for free, without a speech and without a fight you do not want.
If you already invoice cleanly and hold the line, you do not need this. If you keep absorbing scope because naming it feels rude, you do.
Free: Twelve messages, no website
Twelve messages, no website is the public note. Twelve messages you can send when you have skill and no site. It is enough to start. If you want the fuller kit — the sitting, the sequence, the keepable file — that is the First Client Kit.
What this is not
Not lead-gen. Not a CRM. Not “how I made $10k in a weekend.” Not a template pack with 40 variants so you never have to think. You will still have to write a sentence that is true.
We do not collect an email to let you read the free note. PayPal for paid titles. The file is yours. Personal use; do not republish. Work kit, not legal advice. If a client relationship is already a mess, a paragraph will not unscrew it. It can keep the next one from starting that way.
How to use a sitting
- 1. Pick the actual problem: no first client, or unpaid extras. Not both in one night.
- 2. Open the matching playbook. Read it once without editing your life in the margins.
- 3. Do the smallest next send or invoice line it asks for.
- 4. Stop. Do not reward yourself by “just quickly” rebuilding a homepage.
If you finish and nothing needs sending, you picked the wrong problem. That is fine. The other title is still there.
After the first yes
Most people do not fail at freelance because they cannot find a second client. They fail because the first client teaches them that extra is included. The kit gets you paid. The change order keeps the work from becoming a volunteer shift with better lighting.
You can buy both. You can buy one. There is also all eight for $79. Or pay for the sitting you will actually do this week.
Three questions people ask
Do I need a website first?
No. A website is a delay with a domain bill. If someone who already knows your work cannot hire you from a message, a homepage will not save it. Start at Twelve messages, no website. Pay for The First Client Kit if you want the sitting, not just the list.
What if the client gets upset when I bill extras?
Then you learned the relationship was priced on your silence. The Change Order is a calm way to name new work as new work. It is not a threat. If they only liked you unpaid, that is information.
Is this for agencies?
It is for a person who does the work. An agency can steal the sentences. We will not customize a deck for your account team.
